New job!!!

Tomorrow, August 19, I start working for Head Start!!! I got hired as an Assistant Teacher.  Full time with benefits Monday thru Friday day job!!! I am super happy!!!  Head Start has always been that one job I loved and regretted leaving!!  As excited and happy I am about having a job.  I am also sad because I will not be with Skylar every day all day.  Praying I can keep my supply up to keep Skylar breastfeeding.  Wish me luck.

A family member was supposed to watch Skylar with Landon. To help him out but that person But  decided they did not want to do help us.  So Landon is going to try to watch her on his own with his dad help if needed.  I'm worried like crazy.  Skylar just started taking bottles couple weeks ago and she has a fit when every in gone.  So pray for patience for my family through this transition.

I'm going to go to bed!!!!  Nite!!!

Skylar is 5 months old

Skylar is 5 months old today!!! Time goes fast. She rolls over both ways, can move in circles on belly and back.  She loves playing in her Johnny Jumper and exersaucer.  She can almost sit up on her own and she has found her feet.

Doing It My Way

So on Facebook I am on few breastfeeding groups and some things drive me nuts so I decided to write a blog about it!!!

These days people worry so much when it comes to breastfeeding, formula feeding, giving babies pureed store bought foods, or do baby led weaning, about chemicals and other yuckies in food, when to feed babies at 4 or 6 months, cloth diapering.   Its just so annoying at times. If I listened to all these people all my children would not have survived. Kassidi started eating at 3 months with rice cereal then store bought baby food and she was on formula since birth. Karlee started on rice cereal at 6 weeks old due to going through a can of formula in 1 1/2 days. She also had formula. Karlee has a fast metabolism and needed that food.  Skylar I choose to breastfeed because I could but I have nothing wrong with formula (obviously).  Oh and poop I've never seen so many people worry about the color of a babies poop. Insane. I'm a formula, breastfeeding, store bought baby food, home made food, baby led weaning, throw away diaper mama.
And on so many of these groups these moms make First Time Moms worry like crazy about everything.  I am so glad I can think for myself!!!  I do what I want when I want.  Well I talk to Landon about what I want and we normally decide what way to go together.  We are really in sync when it comes to our girls!!!

1St day of School pictures

Been busy

Sorry haven't got to finish the breastfeeding journey.  It's a long piece so I type that on laptop.  But small paragraph on cell is about all I can do.  I've been busy with girls starting School.  And Skylar had her first cold so a few sleepless nights.  Karlee started kindergarten and Kassidi started 2nd grade.  So Skylar had been needier because she loves watching hersissy's play. So with them gone Landon and I have to keep baby occupied more...lol.  Loving it!!!  Still waiting to hear if I got the job at Head Start.  Tomorrow it has been two weeks since interview but I know I aced interview and the company has a lot of people who have to approve of staff. Which should make parents of head start children are with the safest people.

I'll follow up with the company tomorrow for the interview.

Breast feeding journey with Kassidi Hazel

So I have three children.  Kassidi is 8 ½ years old.  Karlee is 5 years old.  Skylar is 4 ½ months old. I am going to write three parts about my breastfeeding journey.  I’m hoping it’ll help someone someday.  J   I was 20 years old when I had Kassidi.  I thought about breastfeeding but I knew no one who breastfed.  There were no breastfeeding classes only some books but the books all contradicted each other.  I had decided I was going to try because I had heard it was the best thing for my baby. I knew though if I couldn’t breastfeed I would get formula for free from WIC and the hospital had stated they could help with formula also.  I was in labor for over 10 hours and the baby was very stressed so I ended up in emergency cesarean.  Kassidi was 3 hours old by the time I got to hold her for the first time.  The nurse handed her to me and stated do you want to try and breastfeed, I replied yes.  So I pulled down my gown and looked at the nurse gracefully where the nurse stated just put her on the boob.  So I put my sweet baby there and she just fussed and fussed.  She would try to latch then come off fussing.  The nurse stated oh she will get it and walked out.  An hour later Kassidi was screaming so I push the nurse button and they ask me what I want over an intercom.  I responded I need help breastfeeding.  The nurse goes oh I’ll be there as soon as I can.  Almost half hour later the nurse came in and starts freaking out on me telling me my baby was starving and I needed to feed her.  I started bawling I need help I do not know what I am doing.  The nurse stated just put her to the boob then watched me do that and walked out.  About an hour later Kassidi was just constantly fussing and crying I was at a loss at what to do.  My nipples were red and one of them was bleeding.  It felt like my nipples were comparing pain with my c-section. I finally gave in and pushed the nurses button and stated bring me a formula bottle.  I was done breastfeeding.  I had no clue what I was doing.  When the nurse came in she brought a case of little 4 oz bottles to feed my baby and she brought me some pacifiers.  When it was time for me to go home I received a diaper bag full of formula and diapers.  I was told formula was just as good as breast milk and I believed it.  I was also a young single mom in the United States Navy so I did what I had to do.

An intro to my breastfeeding journey

***Please do not think I am anti formula because I am not.  Two out of  three of my children had formula.  They grew up just fine.  I am just very pro breastfeeding now because I know the benefits it has.  Kassidi was 9 weeks old I believe and had bronchitis for the first time.  Karlee was about the same age and had severe allergies that every time she coughed she threw up.  Skylar is now 4 ½ months (20 ½ weeks old)  and had not been sick once.  I do not know though if this is because Skylar has not been in day care when the other girls went to day care by 6 weeks old.  But the older girls bring home plenty of germs.  But I do believe in the benefits of breastfeeding and wanted to share my story.

Life changes

So much has changed in the last year.  I got with love of my life and found happiness.  But I also stopped talking to my best friend since 9th grade.  Everything had changed after she was in an abusive relationship.  She wasn't the person I once loved and understood.  And it felt like she didn't care to get our friendship back. It broke my heart to say good bye.  But even now I know it was right decision.  I miss the person she once was and I miss my god children.

This put a strain on few other friendships too and I am not sure if can ever get them back.

But finally after a year I have finally met some great ladies and their children through a play date group.  It is so nice to have friends again that get me and are so supportive of each other. Our children get along as well as children can.

So this story short.  Everything does happen for a reason!!!

Some random pics

The Puppy

We now have a new addition to the family.  A 9 week old puppy we named Gizzmoe.  She's a chihuahua.  When she is older we are hoping for some puppies.  Tony and Boomer are not fixed. :)  Gizzy loves playing with the other dogs, kids, and Skylar.

2 months later!!!

Wow time has flown by!!! My chicks are almost two months old.  I absolutely love having them!!!  Skylar, daddy, and I can just watch them at times.  They love corn on the cob!!!

We had a scare with Skylar in June and ended up going To Phoenix to see a baby cardiologist.  But Skylar is just fine.  She just randomly will have blue around her lips.  She's now 4 months old and weighs 14 lb 8oz and 22 inches long.  She's becoming a chunky monkey just like her sisters were at this age.  Her eyes are still blue and I'm hoping they stay blue.  She has been breast fed for four months and tried avocado last week. She wasn't to keen on it so we are going to wait another month to try food again.  We are staying away from purees and
Going to do Baby Led Weaning with her.  Check out the website www.babyledweaning.com  you cab also look at videos on you tube.  Basically it teaches baby to chew first then swallow while purees teach baby swallow then learn to chew.  She is trying so hard to sit up.  She got to try her Johnny Jumper yesterday and loved it.  Skylar loves her sisters so much.  She smiles and laughs at them so much.

We have been fighting lice on Kassidi and Karlee for 2 months.  Finally got rid of it.  Mayonnaise on the head for two hours.  It suffocates the eggs and lice.  Then comb every day for a week with conditioner.  We also closed off their rooms for three days and put bedding in dryer every day.  Landon and I are clear so is Skylar.

Landon had Ssdi Appeal court on June 6th which also was our one year anniversary.  Found out recently he was denied so gotta appeal again.  Which sucks!!!  So now I'm looking for a full time job.  I've had few interviews but no job offers :(  End of the week I go to interview at McDonalds for management position.  Hopefully i get the job!!!  So ready to be off unemployment.

I started going to play dates in May and I've met a group of awesome ladies.  So nice to have friends again! Our hubbies get along and so do the kids.  We go to a park once a week and get together and talk we the children go play.

Karlee is 5 years old now.  Tomorrow July 25 she gets evaluated for kindergarten and starts on August 8th.  Kassidi is going into 2nd grade.  I can't believe she's going to be 9 years old in two months.  They both are doing very good with completing chores and not fighting all the time.  They enjoy their church program and this week going to Vacation Bible School.
